Surprise Visit

Updated: Apr 21, 2022

Recently, during the Open Arms Academy school holiday, the children had a surprise visit from staff members of a local supermarket.

In keeping with Kenya's Easter theme of hope and new life, they came to celebrate the holidays with the kids. They spent the day playing games with the children and brought lots of goodies for the kids and staple food items for the Village, including cooking oil, flour, sweets, cookies, juice, milk, ughali flour, and cake!

One of the supermarket staff members said, "Some of my fondest memories from childhood are times when I would get to play with my friends over the holidays and eat good food like chapati and cake. I have been thinking about the children at Open Arms a lot and we decided to come and show them that we care so that they can always be hopeful. Thank you for taking care of them!"

What a blessing that Open Arms Village is known in the local community as a place of refuge and safety for children in need.

Thank you for being an important part of God's plan for the children of Kenya. You are saving lives and I am so grateful for you!

God bless you,

Kaytie Fiedler

Executive Director, Open Arms International US
