I Want To Be a Teacher

"I want to be a teacher when I grow up." said Mercy, when asked about her dreams.

Mercy attends Open Arms Academy on scholarship through the kindness of donors just like you. Though she lives a mile from the school, she is always excited to begin her walk because she knows that she will have a meal waiting for her when she arrives. Mercy is a member of the Breakfast Club at school and she says this is the best club of them all!

At home, Mercy, the oldest of four children, cares for her younger siblings as best she can. Her mother struggles with severe arthritis and needs her help at home but is committed to helping her children escape poverty through education. Since they have no electricity, homework has to be done before dark but the family is determined to find a way to prioritize schoolwork and complete chores, too.

Life is not easy for Mercy and her family, but they are all so grateful for the opportunity to get a good education because education brings the hope of a better future.

Your investment in Mercy and the other children who attend Open Arms Academy on scholarship is helping their entire family break free from the bonds of poverty.

You are changing lives with your generosity. Thank you!

God bless you,

Kaytie Fiedler

Executive Director, Open Arms International US

P.S. Would you take a moment to pray for the teachers and students at Open Arms Academy? Their new school year just began and I know they would appreciate your prayers.
