Kenyans are inspired by what Open Arms does to help orphaned and vulnerable children in their community. The kindness shown to us through donations from Western countries is reflected in people here.
On my way to work one day, I was in a public matatu (taxi van). When the conductor asked for my money, I gave it to him and told him where I was heading. A lady sitting next to me asked me if I worked at Open Arms, and I said yes. She was carrying a bag of clothes with her heading to see her sister. As soon as she heard where I worked, she gave me the bag of clothes and said, “I was heading home to find a place to keep these clothes. But I believe God wanted the children at your children’s home to have them.” I was stunned by her kindness. I thanked her, and she took down our address and phone number.
I went to work and after a few hours, she called me and said that she was sending someone with two more bags of clothes. When I thanked her again she said, “God put all of us on this earth for a reason. We are meant to take care of each other.”
I believe that generosity is contagious. We are grateful to all our donors because you inspire others to help. Thank you for starting a cycle of generosity around the world!
