Godwin & Dennis' Story

Updated: May 2, 2022

Two years ago, brothers Godwin, age six, and Dennis, age four, were living a nightmare. Their father was abusive and their mother had left. The boys would often stay away from home when their father would arrive home drunk.

They spent many nights in a hole dug by a dog that had befriended them. Cold, hungry and alone, the boys lost hope.

Alerted of the plight of these boys by neighbors, the local Children’s Officer contacted Open Arms and social workers were dispatched immediately to help the children, bringing the two brothers to their new home.

After arriving in their new home, the boys barely spoke, laughed or made eye contact. Now, two years later, they are full of joy and very playful. Godwin is a great artist who can draw or create almost anything with his hands. Dennis is kind and happy to help others.

Though many children at Open Arms Village have been rescued, many more still need your help! Even one left without love and safety is too many.
