At Open Arms Village, self-sustainability is a top priority. Staff members work diligently to develop ways to provide for the needs of the children without having to purchase needed products outside of the Village gate.
One of the newest projects is all about bees! Recently, a number of beehives have been added on the property and the honey is coming in!
Henry, the farm manager, has done his research and is currently developing an environment that the bees seem to love. Honey production is increasing and the children are enjoying the sweet life as they enjoy the honey from the hives!
As production and quality improve, the goal is to begin selling honey to increase self-sustainability. The older children are learning to care for the bees and this life skill, as well as learning to market a product, will definitely be useful in the future.
I am so thankful for the skilled staff and their hard work! Would you please pray for this project, as well as the numerous other sustainability projects at Open Arms Village?
God bless you,
Kaytie Fiedler
Executive Director, Open Arms International U.S.
