Caroline Shirota - Director of Touchpoint
Caroline has a heart and long history of service to children. She served at Beaverton Foursquare Church in children’s ministry and as their staff artist. She was also the Children's Ministry Director for the charter Open Arms trip to Kenya in 2002. Today, Caroline, a self-supported staff member, combines her love of service and passion for art as Director of Touchpoint, a group of volunteers from across the country who host fund raisers, design and create beautiful quilts and other handcrafted items for and to benefit our children at Open Arms Village. Matt Tallman has served with Open Arms since 2008. In 2009, Matt and his wife Cheryl had the opportunity to move to Kenya to help get Open Arms Village started. Currently, Matt wears many different hats with Open Arms, but he primarily serves to build partnerships between Open Arms and churches and he and his wife Cheryl love leading teams to the village as well. Renee can and has done every job at Open Arms Village. Her flexibility and key phrase, "this is Kenya", is vital to our team on the ground. She has energy and is ready to jump into any project that needs helping hands.
Tara is an instructor at Linnfield College six months out of the year, and lives at Open Arms Village for six months. She leads our teams on the ground in Kenya during the summer.
Ted and Brenda Whiteman
Ted and Brenda live at Open Arms Village coordinating community engagement. They play a vital role on the ground in Kenya and help us with our steps towards a sustainable Village.
